Installation for London Underground

Expansion of the Jubilee Line at Canary Wharf, London Underground

This week’s ThrowbackThursday shows a Beck & Pollitzer installation from 1993. In the early 90s, the London Underground gained permission to expand its service in the Canary Wharf area. Our Beck & Pollitzer team provided the machinery relocation and installation services for much of the extension.

The project was part of a larger collaboration with several UK companies, and it occurred in stages throughout the 1990s. Although a station was originally planned for Blackwall, this was replaced by diverting the line between Canary Wharf (pictured) to serve the Greenwich peninsula instead.

Beck & Pollitzer was involved at several stages of this project, which was finally complete and accessible to the public in 1999.
