Custom-built Groupage – 1950s
Custom-built Beck & Pollitzer groupage vehicle
This Beck & Pollitzer vehicle was custom-built in the 1950s. As the photo shows, the vehicle was manufactured in London, as H.M. Government (UK) had recently issued new and detailed requirements for groupage vehicles. This vehicle—the newest addition to our fast-growing fleet of cars, vans and lorries—was built to those specifications for our European Smalls Division.
Groupage transport involves the consolidation of multiple compatible shipments into a single delivery load. At the time, it allowed Beck & Pollitzer to be both more flexible and more cost-efficient with international shipments.
Beck & Pollitzer still ships and relocates items overseas for clients today.
