Beck & Pollitzer Travel Division  – Trip to Russia

This ThrowbackThursday is another Beck & Pollitzer Travel Division treat from 1959. In a previous post, we showed a photo of Academy Award winner Vivien Leigh with Glyn Byam Shaw and our Travel Manager, Mr Platt. They were departing for a 1959 tour of Russia as part of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Company.

This photo is taken from the same trip and shows the rest of the theatre group as they embark on their journey. The company would perform Romeo and Juliet at theatres in St. Petersburg before continuing their tour around Europe. The role of Juliet would be played by Dorothy Tutin (centre left), with the role of Romeo performed by Richard Johnson (not pictured).
