Multi-scope upgrade during a Tier1automotive summer shutdown

Project overview – During a crucial two-week period, Beck & Pollitzer carried out a high-stakes upgrade for a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer in Hungary. The project included loader rail modifications, the installation of a new overhead conductor, and the removal of twenty years’ worth of redundant cabling, all while production was halted for the summer shutdown.

Specialist methods & tools – Expert execution at height and across multiple disciplines required precision and agility. We deployed:

  • Leica NA720 for high-accuracy levelling
  • Haulotte MEWPs (Star10 & HA-15 IP) for safe aerial access
  • Hilti TE 4-22 drills for efficient structural adjustments

Outcome & safety Improvements – “Removing the old cabling was a particular point of pride for the team,” said Project Manager Norbert Varga. “It’s not just about tidiness; it’s a tangible safety improvement that significantly reduced the load on the roof.”

As with all summer shutdowns, the challenge was balancing speed with uncompromising safety. Operating on a busy, multi-contractor site required precise coordination. Beck & Pollitzer managed this by rescheduling non-essential tasks, segregating work zones, and establishing clear movement routes to reduce overlap with other teams.

Powered by Beck & Pollitzer’s global expertise – This project highlights just one of many complex shutdown campaigns carried out globally by Beck & Pollitzer teams. Our work showcases a seamless fusion of local expertise and global standards. Whether relocating heavy machinery, installing critical infrastructure, or executing multi-scope shutdown upgrades, our disciplined and safety-focused approach remains consistent.

Delivering client confidence – This project demonstrates Beck & Pollitzer’s ability to deliver complex, multi-scope upgrades within extremely tight shutdown windows. By combining engineering expertise, experienced teams, and rigorous safety management, we ensured that the client’s production lines were ready to restart without delay.
