Dreaming Big

Beck & Pollitzer is known for its specialist services and innovative approach to projects. This week’s ThrowbackThursday shows our support of innovation from other companies too.

This 1910 Beck & Pollitzer exhibition stand was erected for Heal & Son’s: a furniture and mattress manufacturer. The company began in 1810 when its founder John Heal introduced feather-filled mattresses to London—something which marked the end of the more traditional straw-filled mattresses of the time.

Like Beck & Pollitzer, the company was a family business that diversified and expanded throughout its long history. It even provided furniture restoration services to Buckingham Palace in 1977! Today, the company is simply known as Heal’s and still has a flagship store at the pictured address of Tottenham Court Road in London.
