Delivery of a new Rover P5 in 1958

Delivery of a (then) brand-new Rover P5 to the Royal Festival Hall

This ThrowbackThursday is from 1958 and shows the delivery of a (then) brand-new Rover P5 to the Royal Festival Hall.

Beck & Pollitzer undertook the project for the car’s original manufacturer, The Rover Company, although this particular model found subsequent manufacturers in Leyland Motors (1967-68) and British Leyland (1968-1973). The car was being delivered to the Royal Festival Hall for an exclusive press preview so that automotive publications could review and advertise the model before it went on sale in September of that year.

Although it is not known how many cranes were owned by Beck & Pollitzer at this point in history, we do know that this car was lifted by “Crane 19”, one of the many vehicles that would later be available for client hire.
