Precision relocation of fragile printing equipment for a pharmaceutical leader

Beck & Pollitzer successfully completed the intricate relocation of eight highly sensitive printing machines for a global pharmaceutical manufacturer. This complex project demanded exceptional precision and meticulous attention to detail to protect brittle equipment during multi-floor transport operations.

The challenge: Our client required the relocation of several fragile printing machines between two operational sites. The project presented significant technical challenges that demanded specialist machinery-moving expertise.

The scope encompassed two distinct operations: several machines, including a critical compressor unit, needed to be transported from the 3rd floor of Site A to the 1st floor of Site B, with the heaviest unit weighing 500 kg. Additionally, two elongated machines measuring 5,000 x 800 x 1,100 mm had to be relocated without disassembly. These delicate units required synchronised parallel movement along a constrained delivery route where any misalignment could result in catastrophic equipment damage.

The Beck & Pollitzer solution: Drawing on over 160 years of engineering expertise, Beck & Pollitzer deployed a specialised four-person team experienced in precision equipment installation and delicate machinery handling. For the multi-floor relocation, each machine was carefully dismantled, individually wrapped, and mounted on custom support boards to distribute weight evenly and eliminate stress points during vertical transport.

The transport of the intact machine required exceptional coordination. Our operatives developed a synchronised rolling technique allowing both 5-metre units to move in parallel. The team conducted detailed route surveys, identifying potential obstacles before movement commenced, ensuring the machines remained perfectly aligned throughout transport.

Safety remained paramount. Our team conducted comprehensive risk assessments and implemented rigorous protocols in accordance with Beck & Pollitzer’s “Safety First” commitment.

The outcome: The project was completed on time, without incident, and to the client’s full satisfaction. All eight printing machines were successfully transported, installed, and prepared for recommissioning at their new location in perfect working condition.

Partner with precision engineering experts: This project exemplifies our ability to deliver complex machinery relocation solutions in demanding pharmaceutical environments.
