Successful Installation of a customer fulfilment centre (CFC) in Japan
It’s done! Beck & Pollitzer’s first project in Japan is in the (shopping) bag, completed successfully and on time, of course.
The task was a challenging one – installing the first ever bespoke CFC in Asia Pacific for our client Ocado Group and their partner AEON, who formed a partnership in 2019.
Aeon is a business with 21,000 stores serving over 100 million customers across 14 countries. They’ve been around for 200 years, just a few decades longer than us here at Beck & Pollitzer (we’re celebrating our 160th anniversary this year!)
The CFC is in Honda-cho, Midiori-ku, Chiba City and is set to transform Aeon’s online grocery and e-commerce capabilities. It uses Ocado’s Smart Platform tech, which is an end-to-end system with impressive logistics and fulfilment capabilities that will take Aeon’s delivery processes to the next level.
Beck & Pollitzer collaborated closely with long-standing partners Sankyu to deliver an innovative CFC that’s specifically designed to withstand the earthquakes that can affect the region. It’s the first of a network of CFCs for Ocado and Aeon, as the partners have big ambitions. Their ultimate goal is to create a network of CFCs serving the whole Japanese market with a sales capacity of about 600bn Yen by 2030 and 1 trillion Yen five years later.
This project marks a major milestone in our expansion across the APAC region – and we’re delighted that it’s giving us an opportunity to strengthen our decades-old business relations with Sankyu.
