Installation of automated storage & retrieval system in Ohio, USA
Beck & Pollitzer undertook a project of installing automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) in Ohio, USA, for a giant in the FMCG industry. The project’s scope of work included installing 19 aisle cranes and associated pallet conveyors – using various lifting tools such as forklifts, man lifts and lifting cranes.
The automation project started in July 2021 with the crane installations – this phase went very smoothly and was completed well before the time limit. Safety was our primary concern, and careful strategic planning resulted in zero safety incidents or accidents.
However, the conveyor installation phase was hit by unforeseeable problems, which the Beck & Pollitzer team did their best to mitigate. As much of the project required outdoor work, issues with snow, rain and cold over the winter of 2021/22 caused unavoidable delays. As did contractor problems and hold-ups in the supply of materials, all of which led to substantial scheduling delays.
Our team is working collaboratively with the client to avoid further delays; our client remains very satisfied with Beck & Pollitzer’s role in the project.
